ANKARA – Publishing a statement regarding those who support the harrasments and violence against women being exposed on social media within the scope of the #MeToo movement, HDP Women's Council said: "The women will not be silenced. The perpetrators will. The women will not lose sleep over this. The perpetrators will."

The statement of the Women's Council is as follows:

"We have been witnessing the posts of women exposing the male violence, harassment and rape they were subjected tofor days." The statement underlined that the action turned into a rebellion with the solidarity and organization of women and read, "We have seen one more time that regardless of their status and title, women are being subjected to male violence and harassment. The women exposing the harassment are being targeted, attacked and threatened.

We, the women know that the movement initiated by the women against male violence is sought to be discredited by the government's oppression policies. They are trying to silence the women.

As the HDP Women's Coundil, we will stand against harassment, rape and male violence everywhere we are. We will continue to raise our voices against the solutionless policies of the government, based on the principle of 'women' statement is essential'. We will continue to fight against the judiciary that punishes the women, not the perpetrators.

Every woman should know that us, the HDP women will stand beside you. We will be standing with the women who does not remain silent against the male violence. We say to those who target women, not the perpetrators; The women will not be silenced. The perpetrators will. The women will not lose sleep over this. The perpetrators will."
